HWVA Grouse Pointing Test

Postby mojo on Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:06 pm

There's a Grouse Pointing Test at Danby in N Yorks on Sat 21st March and I thought about entering Mia but does anyone know what would be expected of an 8 month old puppy in these tests :?: :?:
It would be great experience for both of us, but don't know if I've done enough with her :?: Her recall to whistle is very good and she will sit tho not at a great distance away from me  She quarters with Tash but I haven't done anything really on the pointing side of things

Methinks I'd should have gone on the Reeth training days this week-end with her, maybe I'm trying to walk before I can run

Nice pics Kev, whose the chap with the tash??

We were thinking of doing some Spring Points ourselves.
What is actually required of the dog and handler on a pointing day?

Man with tash is Roy bebbington, what they require is to see a dog showing natural hunting ability turning into the wind at the end of its beat, steady to fur and sheep :D steady to flush, and under control ie no chasing, birds , sheep, bunnys
